What does BUDA FYUL stand for?

If you are asking philosophically, then we stand for providing opportunities for kids to have safe, positive, healthy fun playing the sport of Ultimate-Frisbee. 💙

  • Kids in grades 2 though 8.

All towns are welcome to join our program.

You do not need to be a Framingham resident to register.

  • It is an amazing no-contact sport, with lots of running, great sportsmanship, high-competitiveness, and great team camaraderie. Ultimate is a sport that is typically played on a football-sized field.

The objective is to move a Frisbee down the field to score in a designated end-zone, like football, while not running with the Frisbee in your hand. It is great for all ages, athletic abilities, and skill levels. Speed and size are not the only advantages.

  • Yes!

A season is usually 8-10 weeks long.

We typically play about 6 games against surrounding sites. We have home and away games each season.

Here are some of the towns we have played in the past:

Hopkinton, Westborough, Lexington, Newton, Boston, Brookline, and more to come…

We try to keep the travel games within a 30 minute drive from Framingham.

  • We typically have our home field at:

    Potter Road Elementary School

    492 Potter Road

  • Yes!!!

Many people do not know how to play. You don’t even need to know how to throw a Frisbee to join us. It has just recently become a more popular sport.

The professional league (AUDL) is only a few years old. We will teach the kids the skills and techniques needed to play. The rules are very simple, and have aspects of football, basketball, and soccer. It is a very easy transition from most other sports.

  • Not at all!

They are two entirely different sports. Ultimate is a fast paced game of running in an open field playing with teammates, whereas disc golf follows the same basic rules and structures of golf, but is played in tight wooded areas as a solo sport using a collection of discs that have a variety of flight patterns.

If you have any interest in Disc Golf, please let me know through the contact page. I have considered creating a league for that, as well.

  • The sessions are 90-120 minutes long (typically preceded by a practice, followed by a 60 min game)

This is a co-ed league. Teams will be separated based on grade level and skill, but not gender.

We try to pair the kids as follows:

2nd - 4th graders - There are not many other towns with kids this age. They typically scrimmage with each other each week. We will also seek to participate in a BUDA tournament at the end of the season.

5th & 6th graders - They typically scrimmage with each other the first 2 weeks. We then play weekly games against other towns, and seek to participate in a BUDA tournament at the end of the season.

7th & 8th graders - They typically scrimmage with each other the first 2 weeks. We then play weekly games against other towns, and seek to participate in a BUDA tournament at the end of the season.

More details are available on the registration page:

  • There are no mandatory weekday practices for this league. The kids will practice for 30-60 minutes before each game.

We have added a recommended practice day on Saturday afternoons.

  • These details are available on the registration page:

    https://fyul.net/registration

  • The recommended fee is $70, but you can pay less if needed. This is a non-profit league and all of our coaches and staff are volunteers. The fee goes towards discs for each child to bring home and keep, a shirt for the season, port-a-potty use, and insurance to acquire our field.

If you are interested in playing but need assistance in lowering the cost, enter any of the following as a coupon code at checkout: BYP70 (free), BYP35 (half off), BYP10 ($10 off), etc

  • +Soccer Cleats are recommended, but sneakers can be used.

    +Athletic clothing is recommended.

+FYUL will have discs available to use during practices and games.

+Mouth-guards are optional, similar to soccer and basketball.

+Trimming nails can be helpful. Long nails can often get in the way and get broken when trying to catch the disc.

  • Each player will be provided a Frisbee and a Jersey when they start each season as a part of their Registration.

Our league uses Discraft Ultrastar 175g Frisbees for the 5th - 8th grade divisions.

We sometimes use the Discraft J-Star 145g Frisbee discs for the 2nd - 4th grade division.
